How are they Free?

...why does TMS give away terminals when everyone else sells or leases terminals?

TMS is interested in gaining your long term business.  Unlike many of our competitors looking for an immediate pay day, we consider the cost of providing free equipment an investment in our future business relationship.  The same policy is used by many  of the best cellular telephone services and satellite TV systems.

Can I Cancel?

If you cancel you must return the free equipment to us.

Am I eligible?

Any retail "brick and mortar" type business not currently processing with Total Merchant Services.  Restaurant,  medical office, hair salon, clothing store and furniture store are just a few examples.  Internet or mail order merchants are not eligible for a free terminal.

What about Errors?

You should call our dedicated terminal help desk.  If they can't resolve your problem for you, a new terminal will be sent to you by overnight delivery and the old terminal will be picked up.  If you enrolled in the Merchant Advantage program this services is absolutely free!

How do I use it?

The terminal is very user friendly and you will be able to use it immediately upon receipt  Our terminal help desk will contact you to schedule a brief training session on the terminal as soon as your account is approved.  You can call our toll free terminal help desk at any time if you have any questions or need assistance.

Credit Card Processing can be done in a variety of different ways

Credit Card Processing With Conventional Point of Sale Terminal

If your customer will be presenting his or her credit card to you for payment then you can process the credit card charge using a conventional point of sale terminal by simply swiping the card through the built in card reader.  The terminal reader will take the credit card information off of the magnetic strip on the back of the customers credit card and load it into memory.  You will then be prompted to enter the charge amount.  Then you simply press a button on the terminal to send the credit card transaction through for processing.  The entire process takes about 3-20 seconds depending on if your credit card terminal is connected to a telephone line or to a high speed internet connection.

Credit Card Processing With A Wireless Terminal

If you do business face to face with your customers but do not have electrical power and a telephone connection available, the wireless terminal will let you process the transaction just like the conventional point of sale terminal but with no external connections.  If you need to process credit cards at trade shows, flea markets, on the job site, from a cab, limo or service vehicle the wireless terminal will allow you the convenience of a point of sale terminal but without the restrictions, and since you are actually swiping the card you will be entitled to the lowest rates and fees offered (as opposed to higher keyed-in rates)

Credit Card Processing With A Virtual Terminal Or Web Link

Internet gateway services such as Authorize Net®, available from TMS, afford you two different ways to process credit card charges.  Using the virtual terminal feature you simply log into your account from any computer with web access.  From the secure page you simply type in the credit card information and the amount of the charge.  Your transaction is processed instantly and a confirmation message is sent.  Using the web link feature you can enable your website to automatically process your customer's credit card charges seamlessly in real time.  The web link feature of Authorize net has a variety of different linking methods.  The most popular and easiest way to add credit card processing to your web site is through a shopping cart program or a "buy button".  Authorize Net supports nearly every shopping cart or buy button program available so no matter which shopping cart you might choose for your website, you can be assured that credit card processing can be added easily and effectively.  To add the Authorize Net web linking feature to an existing web site, all you have to do is enter your provided user name and pass word to the provided fields in the management area of the system.  What could be  easier!
