Accepting Credit Cards - What do I need to accept credit cards? You need two things to accept credit cards with your business, a merchant account with a bank or processing organization which we will set up for you, and a way to transfer the transaction information to the processor.  This can be done by using a terminal like retail stores use (not recommended for internet merchants) processing software such as PC Charge that can install on your desktop and transmit the transactions to the processing center, or an online "real time" credit card processing gateway/virtual terminal system like the Authorize Net®, or Pay Me Now®.  The processing solution that is best for your business is a function of what you sell, how much you sell of it, your time and staffing resources and your budget.
